Resilience: Eight Areas of Wellness

Get the right focus for smooth sailing

I've got something cool I want to chat about: your portfolio of health and wellness. It's not just about hitting the gym or eating greens (though those are part of it). There are actually eight areas of health we should all be keeping tabs on: emotional, physical, occupational, social, spiritual, intellectual, environmental, and financial.

Yep, it's a lot, but hear me out.

This idea is about seeing your health as this big, interconnected web. Each part affects the others. For example, feeling good about your job (occupational health) can boost your mood (emotional health), and being in a positive environment can make you feel more at peace (environmental health).

Here's how it can work in daily life:

1. Mix and Match: Each day, think about which part of your health needs a little love. Some days you might focus more on your mental well-being, other days on getting your finances in order. It's all about balance.

2. Lean into Your Strengths: Got a knack for staying fit or managing stress? Use that as a stepping stone to improve other areas. It's like using what you're good at to lift up the parts you're struggling with.

3. Small Steps, Big Impact: Whether you start with your strongest or weakest area, the goal is to make progress, feel good about it, and let that success spill over into other parts of your life.

Why does this matter? Because life throws curveballs. But if you've got a well-rounded approach to your health, you're better equipped to catch them. It's about making sure that if one area is a bit off, the others can help pick up the slack.

Let's try to see our health as this big, beautiful mix that's all our own. It's about finding your balance, whatever that looks like for you.
